At the Special General Meeting of the Society held on Saturday 27th February 2010, membership eligibility to the Society was changed.
The Motion, which was passed, was as follows:
Membership of the Society shall be open to the following health care professionals who have a relevant degree from a Higher Education Provider recognised by the Australian Government:
- Medical Practitioners
- Speech Pathologists
- Occupational Therapists and
- Social Workers
with the proviso that:
- Such graduates are registered members of their profession where such a profession is a regulated profession or
- Where their profession is not regulated, that they are a member of the pre-eminent professional body of their profession, as determined from time to time by federal Council.
Thus the above professionals can apply for Associate Member status of the Society and would be eligible for Full Membership of the Society upon satisfactory completion of approved training and the examination process conducted by the Society.
Please complete all details in this form. It should then be signed and given to the Secretary of your State Branch (see addresses on last page) together with documentation of your professional registration or, in the case of Occupational Therapists and Social Workers, documentation of current membership of your professional body, Occupational Therapy Australia or the Australian Association of Social Workers respectively.
A cheque or money order for the necessary payment of membership dues should also be included. This will be $198.00 (incl. GST) for the full financial year up to 30th June 2012, following which a renewal notice will be sent to you from the Federal Secretariat.
The State Secretary will arrange for endorsement of the application & then forward all the documentation to the Federal Secretariat, which will forward a receipt if requested.
